Tandem is a popular language learning site and app which enables users to teach and help each other learn a foreign language. The app is available on iOS and Android and brings you into a community of language learners.ย Our Opinion: A great additional resource but not enough alone to achieve fluency in a foreign language.

Lingodeer

The Lingodeer website and app contain a variety of exercises, audio recordings, grammar explanations and opportunities to review exercises and progress. The app is less well known than similar counterparts like Duolingo. There is an extra โ€˜Storiesโ€™ section for learners of Chinese Mandarin. A great resource.

Yabla is an excellent language-learning tool that uses videos with interactive subtitles and language games to help users learn a language. It is accessible on online and for iOS. Its videos are of varying difficulty levels and types, and are either sourced from the internet or originally produced. All videos use native speakers, which is an excellent way to improve listening skills. Review

Pleco Software provides an English and Chinese Dictionary application for iOS and Android devices. It is a must-have Chinese language resource for anybody learning Chinese. Most of its features are free, although there are some features which require payment.

Hello Chinese

Hello Chinese is an excellent Chinese language learning app for complete beginners. A great deal of content can be accessed for free, but there is also a Premium and Premium+ option. The app does not allow you to be passive, taking you from beginners to intermediate level. There is limited advanced level Chinese content.
